Diagram #1

Open and inspect your laptop. The LCD screen is a very thin device, only a few milimeters thick, and housed within the display assembly. The display assembly is comprised of the LCD screen, the inverter, the video cable, the exterior plastic bezel, an internal metal frame and hinges. The plastic bezel is held in place by a handful of Phillips screws, which are usually covered by small pieces of rubber or plastic called screw covers. The screw covers may be different shapes and may be located on the front of the plastic bezel facing you or on the sides. In this case, the Compaq Presario V2000 has six (6) rubber, circular screw covers; two (2) at the bottom of the plastic bezel and four (4) across the top.
