Vertical back porch
The amount of time between the end of a vertical sync and the start of the next vertical active time.

Vertical front porch
The amount of time between the end of the vertical active time and the start of the vertical sync pulse.

Vertical sync
During the vertical blank time, the monitor receives the vertical sync pulse which is used for synchronizing the monitor to operate exactly synchronous to the PC graphics card. After receiving the vertical sync pulse, the monitor returns the beam to the upper left corner of the screen.

VGA
Refers to "video graphics array", a type of screen resolution. This resolution measures 640 x 480, creating a 1.33x aspect ratio (Standard). Related to the VGA connector used on many external displays of various resolutions.

Voltage
Electric potential or potential difference expressed in volts.

Wattage
A measurement of power, typically electrical power, expressed in watts or kilowatts.

Wavelength
The distance between one peak of a wave and another, both in the same wave pattern.

WSVGA
Refers to "wide super video graphics array," a type of screen resolution. This resolution measures 1024 x 600, creating a 1.71x aspect ratio (Wide).

WSXGA
Refers to "wide super extended graphics array," a type of screen resolution. This resolution measures 1280 x 854, creating a 1.50x aspect ratio (Wide).

WSXGA+
Refers to "wide super extended graphics array, plus," a type of screen resolution. This resolution measures 1680 x 1050, creating a 1.60x aspect ratio (Wide).

WUXGA
Refers to "wide ultra extended graphics array," a type of screen resolution. This resolution measures 1920 x 1200, creating a 1.60x apect ratio (Wide).

WXGA
Refers to "wide extended graphics array," a type of screen resolution. This resolution can measure 1152 x 768 (1.50x aspect ratio, Wide), 1280 x 768 (1.66x aspect ratio, Wide), 1280 x 800 (1.60x aspect ratio, Wide), or 1366 x 768 (1.78x aspect ratio, Wide).

WXGA+
Refers to "wide extended graphics array, plus," a type of screen resolution. This resolution measures 1440 x 900, creating a 1.60x aspect ratio (Wide).
